What is that smell??

Those were Ashley's words as we were getting ready for school this morning.
We went to bed last night knowing that we were having some clogged, backed up toilet issues. Do you know where this is going??
We had sewage coming out of our downstairs toilet and shower stall and it was going all over the bathroom floor and out onto the carpet.
We got it to stop with lots of towels that are now in the trash.
A few hours later we learned that our sewer had backed up and was coming into the house. A camera that was used showed that a tree root is to blame. We have a DVD on the exploration of the sewer line thingy if anyone is interested.
It was so gross!!! The restoration people came and cleaned up and cut out carpet and drywall. We will be replacing the carpet. Praise God for our home insurance!!! They have been great so far. Right now we have an "Air Scrubber" and 4 dehumidifiers blowing. It is so loud but necessary.

Face Painting

The girls and I were in the need for something fun and new to do. After a morning of bowling with some friends from school we headed to Michael's Craft Store.

Face paint crayons were inexpensive and easy to use. They also clean up nicely. Here are some of our creations.

Thankful

As the sky begins to clear here in San Diego and things get back to "normal", I am thankful.
We have lived here for almost 9 years now and we have had to pack up and evacuate twice because of fires. We have always had friends and family here to stay with while the fires burned their way though our surrounding communities. God is good and we have a home to come back to again. I am thankful that all my friends are safe. I still do not know about all of their homes. I am thankful that our church and school are standing strong and proud. I am hopeful that school will be back in session by Monday. The girls and I are looking forward to getting into a routine again. Although, it has been nice not having to get up and get out early.
I am thankful that the Chargers are playing on Sunday!!

Fall Leaves

Our new house has a great big tree out front with a whole bunch of beautiful falling leaves. Emilee and Ashley worked very hard to make this pile to jump in.

Sunday Night Thoughts

• We have moved into our new home and are slowing getting unpacked.


• Emilee is recovering from a fever and cough. She has missed two days of school and is looking forward to returning to her work and friends.


• Ashley has just started a fever and will be missing preschool and the bedtime story night. She is very disappointed.


• My mom arrives Tuesday!!! Help is on the way.


• I am now wearing reading glasses.


• I am happy to have my computer back. We did not have Internet for 4 days...I was going though a withdraw.


• The Dallas Cowboys lost their first game of the season....they got crushed!!


• The San Diego Chargers are winning again.

Family Portraits

I bought some poster board the other day and the girls spent some time drawing our family. This is Emilee's family portrait. Notice our deceased dog, Luke, in "heaven".

This is Ashley's. She loves to draw people and flowers now that she has learned how.

Got Boxes?

I was asked "Mommy, can we please play with the boxes?"
Emilee made a car with lot of "buttons" inside and Ashley was rowing her boat. Why buy toys when we have boxes to play with. I have plenty just laying around the house, in the garage and even in the back of my car.
